So when I got home yesterday (March 1), I could not connect my phone to the internet. At first I thought someone has changed the router’s settings. I have tried to restart the router many times but still no internet. I then used my laptop and when I opened the browser… TADA! Our DSL internet has been restricted! Sarcastic Hoorah.
The bill’s due date was February 25, but we paid 4 days late. Even though we were late, we still have internet connection until the 29th. So before we got disconnected, we paid the total amount due last February 29 through an accredited local bank. We received a confirmation from PLDT on the 1st of March stating the payment for our account. However, as I wrote earlier, our internet connection was restricted on the day PLDT confirmed our payment. Bummer.
I called PLDT customer support and was on hold for an hour before I got through. Apparently, something is wrong with their billing system and somehow we got tagged as NOT PAID, even though they can see in their system that our balance was PAID.
The customer service rep said our internet will be back within 48 hours. What? That long? I can survive without it though, but we paid for it. And a 48-hour wait is just too much. Don’t you think? Besides, they already caused a hassle. And I know they can override the system so why wait 48 hours? I convinced the rep that we badly need the internet connection so he agreed to lift the restriction and assured us that our internet connection will be back within 2-3 hours. Whew.
Our household was not the only one who experienced this problem though. The customer service rep himself told me that they have been receiving the same complaints from a lot customers.
A friend of mine also experienced the same problem. Due date of her statement was on March 1. She was about to pay on the same day when her internet connection was cut. No grace period or whatsoever.
Oh, PLDT. Why.
