Man Marries video game Character

A man in Japan who calls himself Sal9000 married Nene Anegasaki, a character from the Nintendo DS video game “Love Plus”, on 29 November 2009. This is the first time in history that a person married a video game character.

The wedding was reported by Boing Boing and broadcast live in Nico Nico Douga, a video sharing website popular in Japan. There were guests, MC and a human priest — just like everybody else’s wedding. The bride’s girl friend, who is also a character in the video game, even made a speech.

In other cases, there are people who suffers from “objectum sexual” and have a romantic relationship with objects instead of cartoon characters. Erika, a former US Army soldier, married the Eiffel tower last March 2009.
