My family and I spent our holidays last 2014 in Dubai and went to several places packed with people. In spite of all the noise and crowd in this bustling city, we still managed to chill and relax in a place called “Shades”.
Location and setting
Shades is located at the 4th floor of The Address Dubai Marina overlooking the infinity pool. Plus, there is a great view of.. umm, buildings :D It’s great to dine here with the family because of its al fresco setting, but any one under 21 are only allowed until 10pm.
Setup looks great! You can even see their grill station. Proof that your food is fresh from the grill (of course if you ordered something grilled) :D
And here’s our veeeery long table! They set this up for us since we’re a large group.
Food and Service
The cuisine may be Mediterranean but the head chef is a Filipino. Something to be proud of :) I don’t usually eat Mediterranean cuisine but there are other stuff to try (which I found delicious, by the way). I love the food, specially their seafood paella. Yum yum yum… I wanted to show you a picture but I don’t have one. I was too hungry that time that taking pictures was not my priority (and I am not an Instagram addict).
Shades is not just a chill out lounge for hungry people. It’s also for Shisha lovers. Yes, they serve shisha from 6pm to 1:30am. Ain’t that great?
The service was a little slow though (at least they have a friendly crew). But I guess that’s normal if they’re serving a table with at least 20 people haha. Yes, you read that right. 20! One big family, huh.
Oh, and they have free wifi. To most people, this is an important factor. Upload all the pictures you want while staying at Shades! :)
Since I am the kind of person who enjoys places where I could have casual discussions with my companions without raising my voice, I really enjoyed chilling out at Shades. Awesome view, relaxing ambiance and great food — what more could I ask for? I enjoyed it so much that I would probably visit Shades again when I fly to Dubai.
If it’s your first time in Dubai (and you have money to spend), you might wanna try this awesome lounge — even if you just want to drink a cup of coffee :)
